EESEL Signs an agreement with DHBVN to install 1 million smart meters!

Yes, you heard it definitely correct Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESEL) a joint venture of public sector units of the Ministry of Power and Govt of India has signed a  memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  with Haryana State distribution companies in order to install 1 million smart meters across the state.

EESEL has linked two MoU’s one with Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN). These smart meters will be installed within 3 years, a news agency has reported. The smart meters will be installed in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Hisar, Karnal, Panipat, and Panchkula in the next three years.

Installation of these smart meters will be associated with the GPRS system which would enable the electricity distribution companies to collect real-time data on usage. These Smart meters will enable consumers to monitor their consumption pattern and the corresponding cost, thus leading to adopt energy use and reduce power wastage, providing long-term carbon and financial savings. In this way, the state’s grid will achieve faster restoration from outrages while delivering improvements in system stability, reliability and transparency.
