Key Solar Power Capacity Milestones for India:
- India had 2,650 MW of solar power generation capacity as of May 26, 2014
- The country added 4 GW of solar capacity in 2016 achieving 9,016 MW of solar capacity by 31 December, 2016
- India achieved the latest milestone of 10GW on March 10, 2017, as NTPC Ltd, India’s largest power producer, commissioned a 45 MW solar power project at Bhadla in Jodhpur, Rajasthan
- According to power ministry estimates, 8.8 GW capacity is likely to be added in 2017 which includes about 1.1GW of rooftop solar installations
