The 8th Global Entrepreneurship Summit, GES 2017 is finally in India, acknowledging the growing role India has been playing at the world stage. GES was started as a program by US government to support & empower entrepreneurs, spur innovation, create jobs and economic opportunities in Muslim communities and then beyond. This summit has traveled the world, from Washington D.C. to Istanbul, Dubai, Marrakech, Nairobi, Kuala Lumpur, Silicon Valley, and now finally Hyderabad!
The importance of this summit for India and rest of the world can be seen from the fact that it’s first such event outside US targeting both Muslim and non-Muslim communities.
Since its inception in 2010, GES has always been a high profile event, connecting top entrepreneurs with investors and startup ecosystem across the globe. Past attendees include names such as, Barack Obama, David Cameroon, Mark Zuckerberg and many others. This year, the summit is headed by Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump and has over 1500 attendees including entrepreneurs, investors, educators, government officials and business representatives. PM Modi has been very proactive in pushing the world to adopt renewable energy and his policies towards green energy, especially solar, are helping India achieve its goal declared under the Paris Climate Agreement.
